The Challenge
Electronics retail has long consideration cycles. Shoppers compare, ask questions, and often leave to think it over. Kotsovolos wanted to know how many people actually enter its stores, where they spend time, and whether enough advisors are on the floor at the moments that decide a sale.
The Solution
Ariadne measures Kotsovolos stores in the Athens area, beginning with Neo Iraklio and expanding to Agioi Anargyroi, with further stores in preparation. Time-of-Flight sensors count entrances without cameras and without capturing anything personal. On top of counting, Kotsovolos uses dwell-time analysis by department, checkout queue measurement, and employee presence through an opt-in program, connecting staff coverage to actual customer demand.
The Impact
Department-level visitation and dwell data shows which categories pull shoppers in and which are passed by, and queue measurements show when checkout staffing falls behind. In a side-by-side validation in May 2026, Ariadne's entrance count matched a manual ground-truth count within one percent.
